Philips Infraphil 1945 - 2010

Infraphil
Royal Philips Electronics registered the brand name Infraphil in September 1945. Infraphil is a clipping from Infrared and Philips. From 1946 on, Philips released several dozens of infrared incandescent light bulbs and -armatures for soothing warming appliances worldwide. Infraphil thus is the brand name for a family of products that always were sold under the trademark "Philips".

This site contains images of most of the Infraphil models as well as a number of user manuals and information about the used lamps and logos. More historical- and technical information about sun-lamps, infrared warmers and facial-tanners in general can be found on www.extralight.info, a site about artificial sunlight for self-medication.
InfraCare
In 2005 Philips introduced a new line of halogen heat lamps for medical self-care under the brand name InfraCare. From 2008 on the brand name Infraphil gradually disappeared from the original incandescent heat lamps. Until end 2009 the HP3614 was the last Infraphil to be sold under that name. It was than avaliable in Great Britain only. The HP3616 has been re-introduced under the brand name InfraCare from 2009 on in The Netherlands, Germany and Austria. The HP1511 is only available in Germany and Austria and here too the brand name Infraphil is no longer used.
